Member Advisory Council Organizations
The Caring Place was formed in 1985 because of the work of 11 local churches coming together with a common cause under the unifying umbrella of the Georgetown Ministerial Alliance. Click to learn more about Our History.
Twenty-three additional churches and organizations have since joined The Caring Place family through membership on the Member Advisory Council. The Council is tasked with ensuring the Caring Place stays true to its original mission of helping families in economic crisis in Georgetown and Northern Williamson County. The group meets on a quarterly basis to interact with employees, volunteers, and board members. Each member organization has one primary and one alternate delegate on the Council, and is allowed one vote per organization.
The Caring Place bylaws require that 8 of the 15 members of the Board of Directors are either Caring Place volunteers or members of one of the organizations represented on the Advisory Council. Also, the five-member Nominating Committee formed each year to select new members of the Board of Directors is comprised of 3 members of the Advisory Council and 2 from the Board.
There is no cost to join the Member Advisory Council, and membership is open to all churches Organizations that are represented on the Member Advisory Council are expected to provide at least one of the following areas of support to The Caring Place, based on their capacity: financial donations, donations of food, donations of time through individual and/or group projects, or to help disseminate information regarding The Caring Place’s needs and activities in the community.
