The Shops at The Caring Place thrift store, at 2000 Railroad Avenue, has added Bargain Bins. These are red bins filled with clothing and textiles available Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. near the back of the store. For only $5, customers can fill a paper bag from these bins. This new initiative helps the organization make the most of donations made to The Caring Place while also providing even deeper discounts on necessities like clothing.
The Bargain Bins at The Caring Place offer a convenient and affordable way for shoppers to find gently used clothing, linens, and textiles. Upon entering The Caring Place’s red Bargain Bins, customers can begin a treasure hunt to fill an oversized brown paper bag. Once a collection of selected items starts growing, a Bargain Bin attendant will help the customer fill and seal the bag. The customer will take the sealed bag to the front register and purchase it for only $5.
“Our bargain bin area should be a win-win for everyone,” says Ann Lind, Sales Director. “We’ll be able to offer more merchandise to our customers and be more environmentally conscious by reducing waste.” Lind continues, “Bargain Bin items are looking for another chance. They didn’t meet the requirements to make it on the main store floor but are too good to scrap. In some cases, our sorters found small imperfections; in other cases, the store doesn’t have space for off-season merchandise. Either way, customers will benefit.”
The Caring Place is especially excited that filling a bag with clothes for only $5 can help families with their household budget. With “Back to School” around the corner, families utilizing vouchers for school clothing can purchase even more by utilizing the Bargain Bins. Fashionistas, textile lovers, and extreme thrifters are also welcome as The Caring Place embarks on this new endeavor to reduce waste.
