Our People

Membership Council

The Caring Place was formed in 1985 because of the work of 11 local churches coming together with a common cause under the unifying umbrella of the Georgetown Ministerial Alliance.

Today, thirty-seven churches and organizations are part of The Caring Place family through membership on the Membership Council (previously known as the Advisory Council). The Membership Council provides feedback to The Caring Place Board of Directors so that it stays true to its original mission of helping families in economic crisis in Georgetown and north Williamson County. Each member organization may have up to two representatives on the Council, and is allowed one vote per organization. The Membership Council meets at The Caring Place where representatives can interact with the staff, volunteers and board members on a quarterly basis.

The five member Nominating Committee, formed each year to select new members of the Board of Directors, is comprised of 2 members of the Membership Council and 3 from the Board.

There is no cost to join the Membership Council, and membership is open to all interested churches, businesses and other organizations. Member organization agree to provide, and will encourage their membership to provide, regular donations of goods, services and financial support within their means. Member organizations also agree to publicize the purpose and programs of The Caring Place and will encourage their membership to support The Caring Place as volunteers.
