The Caring Place was formed in 1985 because of the work of 11 local congregations coming together with a common cause under the unifying umbrella of the Georgetown Ministerial Alliance.
Today, more than three dozen congregations and organizations are part of The Caring Place family through membership on the Membership Council. The Membership Council provides an opportunity for faith communities, businesses, and other organizations to have an intentional relationship with The Caring Place by collecting donations and providing volunteers or other resources to help neighbors.
Membership Council FAQ's
Q: Who Can Join?
A: Membership is open to all interested congregations and faith communities, businesses, and other organizations. There is no cost to join the Membership Council.
Q: What is expected of member organizations?
A: Each member organization selects representatives to participate in the Membership Council. Member organizations agree to provide, and will encourage their membership to provide, regular donations of goods, services and financial support within their means. Member organizations also agree to publicize the purpose and programs of The Caring Place and will encourage their membership to support The Caring Place as volunteers.
Q: When does the Membership Council meet?
A: Meetings occur quarterly in January, April, July, and October.
Q: What happens between meetings?
A: TCP works with member organizations and their representatives on partnering together in meaningful ways that further our mission to provide for the basic human needs of all people in our community in a welcoming, respectful and caring way.
Q: Can someone from TCP come speak to the leaders of our organization, or speak at an event or worship gathering?
