Engagement Director (Full-Time)

The Caring Place is a grassroots nonprofit organization that relies on the community it serves to support every aspect of its operations and mission. The Engagement Director provides leadership, strategic direction, oversight, coordination, and priority setting for the many ways in which the community can support The Caring Place. This position specifically provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of the resources supporting The Caring Place, including the thrift stores, individual donors, and the staff and volunteers that support those efforts. This position will support all existing efforts while seeking to diversify and increase opportunities for the community to meaningfully engage in supporting The Caring Place mission, enabling it to expand services to address the growing demand for basic needs in our community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, nurture, and mentor the engagement and retail team including the Community Engagement Manager and the Retail Managers to meet the growing need for basic needs assistance from our neighbors.
  • Create and implement regular communication vehicles and opportunities for engagement for volunteers and staff, as well as the greater community.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and accountability in upholding The Caring Place mission and values in all engagement opportunities.
  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment for staff, volunteers, customers, and the public.
  • Communicate a positive image of The Caring Place that builds confidence and trust with stakeholders and the public.
  • Works with the Community Engagement Manager to cultivate and implement a comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy to maximize donor retention, engagement, and investment.
  • Engage the community, including internal and external stakeholders, in meaningful opportunities to support fundraising goals.
  • Work with staff team to develop and monitor KPI outcomes for community engagement, sales, volunteer recruitment and retention, and fundraising.
  • Develop and oversee TCP’s planned giving program and planned giving instruments, including but not limited to bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable gift annuities.
  • Serve as primary liaison with estate planning attorneys, CPAs, CFPs, trust departments, wealth managers, stockbrokers, and other advisors.
  • Use data driven strategies to continuously analyze development efforts to make ongoing improvements and develop new opportunities for engagement.
  • Collaborate with the team to create compelling communication materials, proposals, and presentations that effectively convey the impact and value of engaging with TCP
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of management, supervisory, communications, fundraising, and/or human resources experience
  • Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university
  • Innovative, strategic, and detail-oriented approach
  • Passionate about The Caring Place mission and role in the community
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • A minimum of 7 years of fundraising experience, including a demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of development
  • A track record of effective fundraising
  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly planned giving
  • Strategic, goal-oriented approach to comprehensive resource development/engagement, with demonstrated success in achieving targets
  • Strong organizational skills and project management capacity; ability to prioritize and manage several significant projects simultaneously
  • Competent with technology, including using social media, email marketing, and donor development software
  • Experience developing and analyzing financial reports, revenue projections, and revenue tracking
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with a diverse community of internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Skilled at information synthesis and analysis
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening or weekend

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree
  • CFRE or comparable Credential
  • Retail Experience
  • Familiarity with The Caring Place, and it’s role in Georgetown and Williamson County
  • Experience making and closing direct asks of donors
  • Experience with DonorPerfect
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
