St. David's Foundation Announces Grants

The Caring Place is a $200,000 grant recipient from St. David’s Foundation.  Annually, St. David’s Foundations generously gives to organizations serving the community under 3 strategic priorities for Healthiest Care, Healthiest Places and Healthiest People.  This is the third consecutive year St. David’s Foundation has selected The Caring Place as a beneficiary of its grant program.

This recently announced grant of $200,000 will help support a growing population of seniors in Georgetown and northern Williamson County.  The overall program offers supplemental nutrition assistance, transportation assistance, system navigation, linkage and referral as well as basic needs assistance.  This support and partnership with a dedicated Case Manager allows clients to age in place successfully with a higher quality of life.

“The Senior Independence Program (SIP), which is in its second year, is already exceeding goals,” says SIP Manager, Kathleen Hopkins.  “In 2019 we have seen great results in the program.  Participation grew 55% and 66% of all participants have reported increased quality of living for greater stability and independence through a self-reported quality of life survey.”  SIP falls under St. David’s Foundation’s priority for Healthiest People: Aging in Place.

This St. David’s Foundation grant continues to bring fundraising opportunities for The Caring Place in 2020 as well.  St. David's Foundation offers a matching grant to be distributed among their nonprofit Grant Partners on Amplify Austin Day on a pro-rata basis. Each nonprofit will receive matching funds based on their total funds raised on Amplify Austin Day. This match results in a significant boost to the funds raised by Grant Partners on the day of giving.  Last year The Caring Place saw a significant increase in community interest on Amplify Austin Day.  This was largely in part due to its supporters wanting to give on a day where their dollars could make an even larger impact by the St. David’s Foundation match.  In 2020, Amplify Austin’s 24 hours of giving begins on March 5th at 6 p.m. and ends March 6th at 6 p.m.  The Caring Place will be providing information on how to participate in Amplify Austin online giving event on their Facebook page at @thecaringplace or www.caringplacetx.org/amplify beginning in February.
