Jacket 4 Georgetown

The Caring Place would like to announce a change to its program offering coats to income eligible children of Georgetown and northern Williamson County.  The Caring Place collects new and gently used coats for this program.  The Caring Place opted to change the program name to Jackets 4 Georgetown to avoid confusion with a similar Austin area program.  Not only are Jackets 4 Georgetown donated locally, they are also distributed locally.  This is an important distinction and convenience for those families participating in the program.  We are sensitive to the fact that transportation is not easily accessible for all families and a local coat distribution site such as The Caring Place eases a burden for parents of school age children in our community.

The Caring Place would like to invite all members of its service area to participate in the Jackets 4 Georgetown program in some way.  The Caring Place service area includes residents of Georgetown, Andice, Bartlett, Florence, Granger, Jarrell, Jonah, Schwertner, Walburg, Weir, and the portion of Hutto that lies within the Georgetown Independent School District. Find information on how you can donate a coat or obtain a coat during program dates listed below.

September 23 - October 12:  Jacket, glove and hat donations can be made in the Donations drive through at The Caring Place located at 2000 Railroad Avenue, Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The organization can also provide collection barrels for coat drives at schools, businesses, community organizations or churches by calling 512-943-0700.

October 14 - October 25:  Families may visit The Caring Place Program & Services department at 2001 Railroad Avenue to qualify for the program and to select jackets for children 18 and under.  Families must be income eligible.  Programs & Services is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  On Thursdays, the office is open 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for employed individuals.  If you have questions about eligibility please call The Caring Place at 512-943-0700.

Since 1985, The Caring Place has provided basic human services for families in financial crisis in Georgetown and northern Williamson County.  Through two thrift shops, The Shops at The Caring Place and Second Helping, both in Georgetown, the organization is able to pay for the operating expenses to serve a growing community in need.  All monetary and food donations benefit neighbors needing food, utility, rent, transportation or medical assistance.  The Caring Place is a community-based, community-supported organization, working to improve the quality of life for every client.  For more information on The Caring Place visit
