The Caring Place Helps Families In Need With Holiday Assistance Programs

The Caring Place wants to ensure that no family goes hungry or child is cold this holiday season. This year, as in the past, The Caring Place, through its Holiday Meal Assistance and Coats for Kids programs (collectively known as Holiday Assistance), is asking for help from the community to meet the needs of a growing population of families in financial crisis.

The Caring Place provides a $20 Coats for Kids Walmart card for a coat and an H-E-B Holiday Meal Assistance card for a holiday meal to qualifying families. “We want to help families in need have a joyous holiday by making sure that children are kept warm and that families have a good meal for the holidays,” says Ginna O’Connor, Executive Director. “Through our Holiday Assistance programs, families can make their own selection of the foods and children’s coats that meet their tastes and traditions.”

The community can help provide assistance by making monetary donations to The Caring Place. In 2014, The Caring Place provided 1,764 coats for kids. And they aided 3,072 people by providing H-E-B Holiday Meals. They anticipate an even greater need this year as the Georgetown area experiences unprecedented growth.
