The Caring Place is excited to announce the launch of our newest program dedicated to our senior neighbors, developed in response to feedback from our first client survey.
As we see a growing number of clients age 65 and older, we recognize that as housing expenses increase, their incomes remain the same.
The Senior Independence Program aims to ease some of this housing-cost burden, helping people to age with grace in their own homes. This pilot program offers limited financial assistance without our traditional proof of crisis requirement, as well as an additional service for those with City of Georgetown utilities in partnership with the Good Neighbor Fund.
Households with one person age 65 or older must provide proof of permanent income, such as Social Security benefits and self-declare the household income and total housing expenses. Households whose housing expenses exceed 30% of the household income may qualify. All participants are further assessed for additional case management support, to assist them in navigating resources and barriers to services. We are excited to expand case management by implementing home visitation in the near future.
If you or someone you know may benefit from this program, please visit us Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM or call 512-943-0700 for more information. Our staff will visit with you to review eligibility.
