The Caring Place Announces Volunteer of the Year Awards

The Caring Place in Georgetown held a special event for its volunteers on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the City Lights Theater in Georgetown. The crowd of about 250 volunteers and their guests were treated to the new movie release: Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, snacks and an award presentation.

Awards were given in two categories to the following volunteers:

The Doris Krohmer Memorial Service Award

Doris Krohmer was a visionary volunteer leader who demonstrated empathy and compassion. This award recognizes a volunteer who consistently exceeds expectations and embodies the spirit of this dedicated and giving person. Award Winners: Lucile Byerley, Gary DeRemer and Sue Moore.

The Caring Heart Award

The Caring Heart Award recognizes demonstrated excellence that exceeded a client’s, customer’s or peer’s expectations. Award Winners: Marilyn Bergren, Cashier Team, Gerry Carolan, Pet and Mike Clark, Bill Dalton, Nell SanGregorio.

Last year, 480 volunteers gave a total of 51,794 hours of service to The Caring Place. “We are so blessed to have such an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers,” said Ginna O’Connor, Executive Director. “Congratulations to all the winners.”

Voted as the Best Place to Volunteer and Give in Georgetown for the fifth year in a row, The Caring Place, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serving its clients and communities by responding to the basic human needs of people in Georgetown and rural Williamson County.
