X-WR-CALDESC:Teachers\, students\, administrators and members of the George
town ISD community donated their one of a kind “Empty Bowls Project” bowls
to The Caring Place to raise money for The Caring Place Food Pantry. Bow
ls will be revealed on Thursday\, July 16th in The Shops at The Caring Pla
ce at 2000 Railroad Avenue. The Store is open Monday-Friday\, 12:30 PM -
4:30 PM. Prices will vary between $5 and $20 each for these limited editi
on bowls.\n\nWhat is the Empty Bowls Project? The Empty Bowls Project typ
ically allows participating artists to create and donate bowls\, then serv
e a simple meal. Guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a re
minder of all the empty bowls in the world. These handcrafted bowls were
created just before Spring Break with the intention of holding this type o
f traditional event. The Ceramics classes and National Art Honor Society
members at Georgetown High School coordinated a community bowl making even
t and a glazing day event. Students learned about hunger in the community
and about The Caring Place’s work during class. Students planned to sell
the bowls at an event in April\, but COVID-19 halted that fundraiser. Ms
. Morin reached out to The Caring Place to find a new way for the work of
the Georgetown ISD community to benefit the organization. There will be n
o meal\, but the bowls will be available for sale.\n\n“We are honored to h
ave this student work at The Caring Place benefiting the organization. We
love that high school students not only learned about bowl making in clas
s\, but also about basic needs in their community\,” shares Communications
Manager\, Jill Nalley. She continues\, “This is a testament of GISD’s co
mmitment to service as they educate our children.”\n\nGeorgetown High Scho
ol Ceramics teacher Angela Morin adds\, “The Georgetown community’s suppor
t of the Fine Arts in GISD is how our students have access to programs lik
e Ceramics. When I spoke to my students about hunger in our community\, m
any felt inspired to pay it forward and participated well beyond the requi
rements of the Empty Bowls assignment. I am ecstatic that The Caring Plac
e has found a way to honor the commitment of the students\, despite the CO
VID-19 setbacks.”\n\nGeorgetown ISD and The Caring Place invite you to beg
in buying the bowls on July 16th during store hours. You can find picture
s of the bowls prior to the reveal on The Caring Place Facebook page: @car
ingplacetx. Jill Nalley and Angela Morin will also talk a little about th
e bowls and the project on Facebook Live prior to the reveal in the store.
\n\nABOUT THE CARING PLACE\n\nSince 1985\, The Caring Place has provided f
