Coats for Kids: The Caring Place Asks for Help Keeping Children Warm this Winter

The Caring Place wants to ensure that no child is cold this winter. Through its Coats for Kids program and the help of the community, The Caring Place provides Coats for Kids Walmart cards to qualifying families with children. “We want to make sure that every child who needs a coat gets one,” says Ginna O’Connor, Executive Director. “Many of the families we serve barely make a living wage. Non-financial assistance, such as purchasing a coat for their children, makes a positive impact on their finances.”

The community can help children and families in Georgetown and rural Williamson County by making a monetary donation to The Caring Place. “We really appreciate how the community steps up and helps us with Coats for Kids each year,” says Rita Turner, Community Engagement Manager. “I know with the community’s help, we’ll be able to help even more children than last year.”

In 2014, The Caring Place provided 1,764 gift cards to parents to purchase coats for their children. They anticipate an even greater need this year as the Georgetown area is experiencing unprecedented growth.
