The Caring Place Announces New Retail Store

The Caring Place is excited to announce plans to open an additional retail store on Williams Drive in northwest Georgetown.

The Caring Place thrift store revenues cover 100% of the organization’s operating expenses so that all financial donations to The Caring Place go directly to services supporting people in financial crisis in Georgetown and rural Williamson County. The new thrift store in northwest Georgetown is scheduled to open at the end of spring or beginning of summer and will fulfill the organization’s need for additional retail space. Purchases at the new and the existing thrift store, The Shops at The Caring Place on Railroad Ave., help The Caring Place assist families in financial crisis.

“Our area is growing so fast and The Caring Place is experiencing a marked increase in the demand for basic human services,” said Barry Haag, President of the Board. “Sales at the new retail location will help The Caring Place continue to realize its mission, assisting more families in financial crisis in our community.”

“The new thrift store will carry antiques, collectibles and other really cool stuff,” said Ann Lind, Retail Operations Director and 10-year staff member at The Caring Place. “I am so excited about our new retail store. This new location will help us generate more revenue so that we can help more people who count on us for services. It will also give The Caring Place a special place to showcase the beautiful vintage items donated by our generous community. I think our customers are going to love shopping at the new store, knowing that the proceeds of their purchases go directly to helping people in the community.”

The Caring Place will continue to receive donations of these items at its Railroad Ave. location only. Item donations will not be accepted at the new northwest Georgetown store. Additional information about the store’s location and hours will be announced soon.

The Caring Place will continue operating its thrift store, The Shops at The Caring Place, at 2000 Railroad Ave. in addition to the new location. The organization is in need of volunteers and is accepting applications. For additional information about volunteering at The Caring Place, please contact Rita Turner at 512-943-0702.

The Caring Place is a non-profit social service agency, serving families in financial crisis in Georgetown and rural Williamson County. Services include assistance with rent and utility bills, food, clothing, transportation, basic household items, certain medical costs and prescriptions, educational programs and minor home repairs.
