  • Part-time Retail Associate

    The Retail Associate position is a part-time, physically demanding, fast paced, and rewarding position at The Shops at The Caring Place. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a commitment to the mission of The Caring Place, and the ability to creatively problem solve. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative and can effectively work with minimal supervision to accomplish organizational goals.

    Preferred candidate will have at least two years of experience in retail setting (ideally in a thrift or collectible store environment). The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent customer service skills through all interactions with customers, clients, volunteers and staff as well as be able to learn and become proficient in all aspects of the store operations and equipment. Preferred candidate will have the ability to train others. In addition, the chosen candidate will work as part of a team and step in to fill voids as needed for: cashing, pricing, sorting, lifting, hauling, transporting, and organizing merchandise.

    The candidate must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds, sort, price, display and sell merchandise. Computer skills required with working knowledge of point-of-sale and MS Word. Bilingual (Spanish) is an asset.

    This position is classified as non-exempt under the Federal Wage and Hour Laws. It is a part-time, 20- 25 hour per-week position which could include shifts that work days, one evening a week and Saturdays.

  • Retail Manager

    1/9/2019

    The Retail Manager is a full-time position responsible for leading, managing and supporting all aspects involved in the function of The Shops at The Caring Place. This position supervises the Assistant Manager, the Retail Associates, as well as any volunteers who support the store. The Retail Manager is responsible for the operation of the store ensuring maximum sales through merchandising, expense control, human resource management and managing operating costs.

    Qualifications:
    The preferred candidate has the following education, experience, and expertise:
    Minimum of 5 years’ experience of management in a retail environment is highly preferred.
    Prefer at least one year of experience working with volunteers.
    High School diploma required.
    Excellent interpersonal skills required with effective conflict resolution skills.
    Excellent managerial and problem solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively with individuals and a team.
    Experience in visual merchandising a must.
    Experience handling money and reporting revenues on a daily basis.
    Computer skills required, with working knowledge of point-of-sale, Microsoft Excel and Word programs desired.
    Must be able to work flexible hours and days including Saturday and one evening per week.
    Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
