A Caring Place with Caring People...

Our mission is to serve human needs in Georgetown and Northern Williamson County.

The Caring Place assists families in the following ways: Financial Assistance:

  • Rent, utilities, medical expenses, temporary shelter, transportation, other.
  • Non-financial Assistance:  Food, clothing and household items.
  • Feeding Programs:  Fresh Food for Families and Hope
  • Annual Programs:  Coats for Kids, Thanksgiving and Christmas food distribution.

The need is great. Every day, staff and volunteers help get people back on their feet with the basics of life: food, shelter and clothing.

The Caring Place has applied for and has been approved to participate in the State Employees Charitable Campaign (SECC) and in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). These programs run at the same time as the United Way campaigns – but are separately administered and designed specifically for federal and state employees.

Our Executive Director, John Stock, and Rita Turner, our Director of Community Engagement are available to speak at state and federal employee meetings about The Caring Place  and our mission -- as well as the many organizations that are listed in the enrollment materials for the SECC and CFC campaigns.

Employees may choose to select an organization from the approved list that they wish to support. To make it easier, all organizations have a code number. Please use and share our ID numbers with any Federal or State employees that you know who may like to designate their donation to us.

The numbers for The Caring Place are:

SECC      (State Employees Charitable Campaign):     # 224039

CFC        (Combined Federal Campaign):                     # 67874

The Caring Place will be both supporting and benefitting from the annual CROP Walk scheduled for Sunday, October 17th in San Gabriel park.

Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from The CROP Walk remain in Georgetown, of which, The Caring Place and Meals on Wheels will each get 12.5% each.

We need teams of people to act as recruiters to get donations and walk in the CROP Walk.  If you are interested in being a walker or having a team, please contact Rita Turner at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 869-4735 x 231.
