Services

The Caring Place provides emergency assistance for families with documented crisis. The Caring Place strives to provide services to as many families as need our assistance in our community; therefore, assistance is based on crisis.

 

To receive help you must reside in one of the following areas, Georgetown or Northern Williamson County.  This includes:

 

Georgetown          Hutto            Jarrell            Granger          Weir                  

Andice                  Thrall             Walburg        Bartlett           Florence

 

How can I receive help from The Caring Place?  To Receive Help, You Must Present the Following

1. Photo Identification (ID).  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Picture ID (with current address)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Student ID
  • Mexico ID

 

2. Social Security Number (if applicable)

  • Please provide your social security number, as well as social security numbers & date of birth for family members.

 

3. Proof of Residency.  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Lease Agreement
  • Bills coming to address of residence
  • The Caring Place "Proof of Residence Form”

 

4. Documentation of all household members.  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Picture ID (with current address)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Student ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Mexico ID
  • Mail in person’s name coming to stated address

 

5. Documentation of your crisis.  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Notice of Lay-Off or termination ( TCP may call to verify situation)
  •  Decrease in hours worked or salary (pay stub)
  • Hospital Discharge
  • Car Repairs completed (invoice / receipt of repairs)
  • Medical bills (such as emergency dental work, medications purchased, etc.)
  • Other

 

6. Documentation of all household expenses.  Please provide all that apply:

  • Rent / Mortgage
  • Car Payments
  • Car Insurance
  • Phone Bills (home phone and cell phones)
  • Utilities (electric, gas, water)
  • Loan payments
  • Cable / Internet
  • Credit Card Payments
  • Childcare
  • Medical Bills
  • Medical Insurance, cobra, life insurance, etc.
  • Other

 

7. Proof of ALL household income.  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Pay Stubs
  • Child Support
  • Disability, Retirement/Pension, Rental income, any type of Social Security payments, Veteran’s benefits, financial support from family, etc.
  • Note from employer on official document
  • Completion of The Caring Place “Proof of Employment” form

 

8. Proof of all benefits the household is receiving.  One or a combination of the below items:

  • Food Stamps
  • CCMS
  • TANF
  • Medicare/Medicaid
  • Support from other organizations

 

IMPORTANT -- If the required documentation is not provided at initial scheduled appointment or future appointments, your appointment will be rescheduled so you can provide required documentation.

 

List of available services based on eligibility:

  • Emergency Financial Assistance – once in a 12 month period
  • Clothing – once in a six (6) month period
  • Food – once in a 30 day period

SERVICES Details:

Emergency Financial Assistance
• Eviction Prevention
• Rental Assistance
• Utility assistance
• Transportation Needs (car repairs, gasoline)
• Temporary Shelter (very restricted)
• Medical (assistance with prescriptions, medical devices, dental, eye glasses, etc.)
• Eligibility based on need
• Financial assistance is through appointment only.

 

Non Financial Assistance
• Food (monthly pantry visit)
• Clothing (once in a 6 month period)
• House Hold Items (as needed and based on crisis)
• Eligibility based on need
• No appointment necessary.


Support Case Management
• This is for individuals or families who want professional case management services
• A staff or an experienced volunteer will oversee these situations
• Informal counseling, assistance with budgeting, skills building, short and long term goal setting, advanced advocacy, etc.
• Anyone who is a client of The Caring Place may participate in these services.

 

Rebuild Program
• Minor home improvements
• Several Caring Place volunteers will come to your home and do an estimate of the requested work to be done
• Application required
• Eligibility based on need.

 

Feeding (FOOD) details:

Caring Place Pantry
• Families may receive a pantry visit from our food pantry once in a 30 day period
• Families are given four (4) days of food and amount is based on number in household and ages
• Eligibility based on need
• No appointment necessary

 

Fresh Food for Families (FFFF)
• Fresh fruit and produce distributed on the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Mondays of the month
• Variety of fruit and produce varies with season and availability
• Produce distribution is not restricted to residents of The Caring Place service area
• Distribution times listed below.

 

Healthy Options Program for Elderly (HOPE)
• HOPE bags are nutritional, supplemental groceries for seniors who are 60+ years old
• Distribution is on the 2nd Tuesday of the month
• Eligibility is based on age, crisis and meeting the income guidelines under TEXCAP
• Annual application is required.

 

Seasonal Program details:

Family Elderly Care Fan Drive
• Program sponsored by Family Elder Care
• Free fans for families with dependent children, 60 years old and over and those with disabilities
• Number limited to numbers of rooms and previous distribution
• Application required
• Eligibility based on the above mentioned and meeting income requirements.

 

Coats for Kids
• A new coat for every child who needs one!
• Ages 0 – 18 years
• Application required
• Distribution date will be announced middle summer.

 

Thanksgiving and Christmas Boxes
• Families receive the holiday meal complete with traditional holiday fixings.
• Turkey vouchers are given to families at distribution. The size of the turkey is based on family size.
• Families will take the vouchers to HEB and receive their turkey.
• Meal is based on family size.
• Application is required.
• Eligibility is based on need.
• Thanksgiving distribution will be in November.
• Christmas distribution will be in December.

 

Client Service Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday – 9 A.M. – 4 P.M.
Saturday & Sunday – Client Services closed
Financial assistance by appointment ONLY.
No walk-in families after 3:30 P.M.

 

Feeding Programs Distribution Times


Fresh Food for Families – 1st, 3rd, & 5th Mondays of the month
Drive through distribution hours – 9 A.M. – 10 A.M.
Walk up distribution (for families WITHOUT a car) on the porch – 1:00 P.M. until all food is gone
HOPE – 2nd Tuesday of the month
Distribution in The Caring Place Lobby – 9 A.M. – 4 A.M.


*Families may pick up their HOPE food anytime within a week of distribution, after this time the food will not be available.
*Delivery for HOPE is available with proven homebound situation.

REMEMBER – RECYCLE YOUR GROCERY BAGS!  THE CARING PLACE CAN ALWAYS USE YOUR EXTRA PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS!
