Specialty Retail Manager

The Specialty Retail Manager  position is physically demanding, fast-paced, and rewarding.  The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude, a commitment to the mission of The Caring Place, and the ability to problem solve creatively.  The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative and can effectively work to accomplish organizational goals.

 

The preferred candidate has the following qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years managing a retail store, preferably one that featured antiques, collectibles, and decorative items
  • Flexibility and excellent people skills required
  • Eye for design and flair for decorating a must
  • At least one year of experience working with volunteers
  • Experience handling money and creating daily reports
  • Excellent computer skills required
  • Excellent managerial and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain professional and emotional maturity

People Coordinator

The Caring Place is a local, community-based nonprofit organization that has assisted families with basic human needs in Georgetown and rural Williamson County, Texas for over 30 years. The Caring Place is a dynamic, progressive, financially-stable, rapidly expanding organization, with a strong community image and a broad support base of constituents, stakeholders, donors, community partners and volunteers.

 

The Caring Place has an immediate need for a People Coordinator to oversee all of the people functions of the agency. The People Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the human resource efforts of The Caring Place, including policies and training programs.

This position has a very broad range of responsibilities, for example: (1) recruiting, interviewing and orientation for employees, (2) counseling staff on a variety of personnel related issues, (3) managing the performance appraisal process, (4) preparing bi-weekly payroll for approval, (5) developing and implementing training for paid and unpaid staff, (6) maintaining database of volunteers, and more!

Qualifications for this position include the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification, with an interest in learning and development
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in human resources as a Generalist
  • Expertise in Employee/Volunteer Relations, Talent Management
  • Knowledge of employee benefits/compensation and on-boarding
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Worker’s Compensation
  • Expertise in employment law and organizational development
  • Experience working with volunteers, with both retention and recognition
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly organized, motivated and self-directed
  • MS Office proficiency
